Mashable’s NextUp NYC: “Emerging Journalism Skills” | Moderated a panel on emerging skills in journalism that included Jay Rosen, journalism professor at New York University, Jenna Wortham, technology reporter for The New York Times, Drake Martinet, associate editor for D: All Things Digital/The Wall Street Journal Digital, and Laurie Segall, money and technology reporter for CNN.
CNN: “Social & News Media in 2011″ | Presentation on emerging trends in journalism and social media done for CNN staff at its NYC office, which was also video conferenced to its Washington D.C. and Atlanta headquarters. The presentation was based of a feature I wrote for Mashable in December.
VVOJ: “Investigative Journalism in the Age of the Social Web” | Keynote presentation for VVOJ investigative journalism conference in Belgium for 500+ investigative journalists on November 19, 2010. The presentation also was accompanied by a feature post I wrote for Mashable.
De Volkskrant: “Using Social Media Tools in Your Reporting” | Presentation given to journalists at De Volkskrant newspaper in Amsterdam and VVOJ investigative journalism conference in Belgium in November of 2010.
Poynter Social Media Day: “Finding Revenue in Social Media” | Presentation on how news organizations are leveraging social media to generate revenue at Poynter Institute’s Social Media Day in November of 2010. The presentation was accompanied by a feature post on the topic for Mashable.
Mashable NextUP NYC 2010: “The Future Journalist: Thoughts from Two Generations” | A conversation with Sree Sreenivasan, dean of student affairs at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. The conversation focused on the emerging skills needed of journalists.
